About Singapore Gujarati Society

Singapore Gujarati Society was formally started in 1912 by a group of Gujaratis in Singapore, in a compound in Waterloo St. Historical records show that Gujaratis came to Singapore with the East Indian Company, where early immigrants had frequent spiritual sessions in their homes and gathered funds for the welfare of their community and newly arriving guests and merchants from India . The aims of the Society is to promote activities for the members and their families, to promote teaching and learning of the Gujarati Language, and to propagate the practice, teaching and learning of Hindu and Jain religion amongst the Gujarati Community in Singapore.
